Monthly Meet-up FAQ’s
Where exactly do we meet for the walk?
Since Cannock Chase has several beautiful starting points, our meeting location changes periodically to keep the scenery fresh. We post the specific car park or landmark details on our Facebook at least one week before the last Sunday of the month.
Is there a fee to join the walk?
Not at all! These walks are a free community initiative hosted by Esther to bring local dog lovers together. You just need to cover your own parking costs (where applicable) at the Forestry England car parks.
My dog is a bit shy, can we still come?
Absolutely. We welcome all friendly dogs, but we understand some may need a little extra space. We encourage owners to follow the "yellow lead" rule if their dog needs distance, and because the Chase is so vast, there is plenty of room for everyone to walk comfortably at their own pace within the group.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We’re used to the Staffordshire elements, so we usually walk rain or shine! However, in the event of extreme weather warnings or dangerous conditions, we will post a cancellation or reschedule notice on our Facebook group by 11am on the day of the walk.
How fit do I (and my dog) need to be?
Our walks last approximately 1.5 hours and follow established trails. While the terrain can be uneven or muddy (as expected in the wilderness) we maintain a relaxed, social pace that is manageable for most fitness levels and adult dogs.
